Marcus Pinnock

Marcus began his career in financial planning in early 1987 and has enjoyed working closely with his clients for more than 30 years. From 1989 to 1990, he served as chairman of the Ethics Committee of the Utah Chapter of the International Association for Financial Planning.

While attending the University of Utah, Marc majored in business economics, was active in student government, participated in the National Golden Key Honor Society, and was president of the Sigma Chi fraternity.

Marcus served as sales manager for John Hancock Life Insurance Companies in the 1990s and was recognized as its top national sales manager* in 1996. In 1997, he was appointed general agent for John Hancock and continued in that role through 2002, managing his sales force and responsibilities in the states of Utah, Idaho, and Wyoming.

In 1997, Marcus started Sterling Financial Group, LLC. In 2002, he took the firm to Commonwealth Financial Network, a full-service independent broker/dealer. This step was taken so “we could offer our clients quality products and services with complete independence.” This has been one of the best strategic moves enjoyed by associates and clients alike, making Sterling Financial Group one of the most highly-respected comprehensive planning companies in the inter mountain area.

Marcus and his wife, Jennie, reside in Holladay. Their greatest accomplishment, is and continues to be, raising their four kids of which 3 are now adults. They enjoy family time, including playing tennis, mountain biking, skiing, boating, scuba diving, and other outdoor activities.
