Jonathan PinnockCLU®,ChFC®, AIF®

Jon Pinnock grew up in Holladay, a suburb of Salt Lake City, Utah. In 1998, he graduated from the University of Utah with a BA in business. He began his career in the financial services industry as a financial planner with Intermountain Financial Group. In 1997, Jon was a founding principal of Sterling Financial Group. He firmly believes that in order to provide world-class financial service and guidance, an investment professional should be free from the influences present at many of the traditional insurance companies and Wall Street firms.

Since his graduation from college, Jon has continued his education and has received his Chartered Financial Consultant® (ChFC®) and Chartered Life Underwriter® (CLU®) designations. He completed a three-year fellowship program in business planning techniques and has received accreditation as an Accredited Investment Fiduciary® (AIF®). Currently, Jon is an investment adviser representative of Commonwealth Financial Network®, member FINRA/SIPC. Jon has taught business planning concepts in an MBA course at Westminster College and asset and portfolio management at the University of Utah, School of Business. In 1992, Jon was elected an officer in the local chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (NAIFA), and he served as its president in 1995 and 1996. From 2011 to 2016, Jon served on the National Retirement Advisory Council for Commonwealth Financial Network.

Outside Interests: From 2009 to 2012, Jon enjoyed serving on the board of the YMCA of Utah and witnessed the charitable work it renders to the community for hundreds of families annually. From 2012 to 2016, he served on the alumni committee and as a board member of The Lowell Bennion Community Service Center, the service arm of the University of Utah.

Jon and his wife, Laura, live in Holladay, not far from where he grew up. They are very happy to be part of their community and feel it is a wonderful place to live. Jon and Laura enjoy their time spent with their four children and their spouses. In his free time, Jon enjoys learning to become a pilot, golf, and fly fishing.
